Navigation on the Queulat Fjord to the Isla Poya Huapi. It is a 3 to 4 hours excursion during which guests can observe sea mammals (dolphins), sea birds and enjoy the spectacular native forest that covers the shore. QUEULAT NATIONAL PARK - Activities that can be done in the park when staying at Fiordo Queulat Ecolodge

Hikes with or without guide in the Hanging Glacier area ( 5 miles from the lodge) -

Hike To The Mirador (view point): This trail allows the visitor to approach the confluence of the Ventisquero and Desague rivers, from where there is a beautiful view of the glacier. The hike is less than half an hour long.

Trail to Laguna Témpanos (aprox. 1/3 of a mile): After crossing over the Ventisquero river on a hanging bridge and bordering the river for about 300 feet, the trail reaches the outflow of the Laguna Témpanos. Here we can obser how high the lake level was before a break through and a huge avalanche that occured about 40 years ago. Beautiful views of the Laguna and of the glacier.

Trail over the Morrena (glacial moraine): This trail is almost 2 miles long and goes up hill, through the imposing austral forest, to the top of a moraine left behind 12.000 to 14.000 years ago by the retrieving glacier. After an hour and a half hike (medium to difficult) the visitor reaches a view point just in front of the glacier, as watching it from an helicopter, and from which you can observe and hear the ice breaking loose. We recommend to do this hike only when the weather is sunny  or with scattered rain, and even during cold front days. We do not recommend it on warm rainy days because of bad visibility, the visitor being unable sometime to see the glacier after the hard walk. The whole excursion takes 3 hours and sometimes more depending on the time spent at the view point, it requires to be in good shape since there is about  330 yards drop from the top to the beginning of the hike.

Rio Cascada or Pudu Glacier Trail (trail: 1 mile and then rest of the hile with no trail 3/4 mile): The trail has several names but the Conaf sign says Rio Cascada, we call it “trail in the enchanted forest and to the Cesares Glacier”. It is a beautiful trail that penetrates into a magical world of tree trunks and stones covered with moss and ferns of all sizes. The trail leads up to the end of the vegetation, to the barren rock, from there it is possible to follow a small canyon all the way up to a little lake at the foot of the Cesares or Pudu Glacier. It is a medium to difficult trail, of great beauty and we highly recommend it on rainy days since it is when the waterfalls are plentiful and prettier. The excursion last 3 to 4 hours from the Lodge.

Trail to the Padre Garcia Waterfall: This trail goes down 165 yards to the foot of a waterfall, and  is right where the road starts to climb uphill, on the northern side of the Queulat pass. It is only a 20 minutes easy hike.

Trail to the source of the Queulat River: 2.5 miles of a trail that will reach the source of the Queulat river have already been cleared, crossing beautiful forests and along river banks. Once  the trail starts to rise, visitors can catch some great views of the river and the valley. The bridges over the river have not yet been finished so the Queulat has to be waded about 3 times. The whole excursion is 3 to 4 hours long, and unfortunately this trail has not been kept in good condition by Conaf.
